How does the AI search checker work?
It reads your robots.txt for each AI crawler, sends one request that identifies as an AI crawler to see whether your firewall lets it in, loads your public pages the way a crawler without JavaScript does, and checks structured data, llms.txt, direct answers and business facts. It uses fixed rules, not AI, so the same site always gets the same result.
Which AI crawlers matter for being found?
Search crawlers decide whether assistants can find and quote you: OAI-SearchBot and ChatGPT-User (OpenAI), Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User (Anthropic), PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User, Googlebot and Bingbot. Training crawlers such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended only collect content for model training; blocking them is a business choice.
What is llms.txt?
A plain text file at the root of your site that summarises who you are, what you offer and which pages matter most, written for AI tools. It is a young, voluntary standard: helpful, but less important than crawler access and readable content.
Can this guarantee that ChatGPT recommends my business?
No tool can. It shows the technical and content reasons an assistant may skip your site, which you can fix. Being recommended also depends on your reputation, reviews and how well you answer what customers ask.
